“LAS LIMPIAS” Y LA MEDICINA TRADICIONAL INDÍGENA MEXICANA

En México desde los tiempos prehispánicos entre muchas otras costumbres y tradiciones se hacían " limpias" para curar a los enfermos de diversos males espirituales o del cuerpo, utilizándose una enorme variedad de especies vegetales mexicanas que tienen propiedades curativas y que actualmente aún se encuentran en un número considerable bajo investigación por instituciones tan prestigiadas como la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, el Instituto Politécnico Nacional y otras más, que en efecto, les reconocen propiedades realmente curativas.

Sin embargo, las " limpias" aunque su origen se finca con el nacimiento de los pueblos prehispánicos, con los muchos pueblos o etnias que poblaron México y que hablaban lengüas muy diferentes, no sólo el Náhuatl, aún hoy en día se siguen practicando a la par que el uso de la internet para curar, por ejemplo: " El Mal de Ojo", "La Envidia", "El Desamor" o para conseguir empleo, dinero, bienes o fortuna.

El “ Mal de Ojo” de acuerdo con los principios de la Medicina Tradicional Indígena Mexicana, fundamentalmente es una enfermedad causada por la “mirada fuerte” de algunas personas y cuyas causas pueden ser la envidia y también el estado anímico o corporal, o ambos, de esas personas, afectando principalmente a niños y eventualmente a los adultos. Se le reconoce por la presencia de diarrea, vómito, intranquilidad o ansiedad, llanto y otros síntomas.

No obstante, en la cultura popular también se le asocia con la brujería, pues para su curación se emplean huevos de guajolota, gallina criolla o negra y algunos rituales que dicta la propia medicina indígena, pero por su desconocimiento, hay quienes creen que se trata de sanaciones brujas, aunque propiamente no lo sean, ya que no hay el uso de fetiches, invocaciones demoniacas, preparación de bebidas, de objetos o de plantas destinados a causar el mal u obtener algún cambio en la persona a la cual se dirige, excepto lo referido, es decir, el uso del huevo y ciertos rituales, para sanar al enfermo del “mal de ojo.”

También se cree que “ El Mal de Ojo “ daña a los animales y a las plantas.

No podríamos mencionar el enorme número de comunidades y etnias indígenas de México que se ocupan de este tema, casi todas de manera similar y que, además, hablan 94 lengüas, reunidas en 42 grupos de 12 familias lingüísticas que están distribuidas a lo largo y ancho del territorio mexicano. Así, sólo tomemos por ejemplo el caso de los hablantes de la lengua Náhuatl.

Para su diagnóstico se suele revisar la cara del enfermo, principalmente los ojos. La cura del “ Mal de Ojo” se lleva a cabo haciendo con el huevo una figura de cruz frente al enfermo o se le frotan lo ojos. Después se quiebra el huevo y se deposita en un recipiente con agua; si en la yema se forma una cruz o un ojo, o bien, se cuece, entonces se confirma el diagnóstico. Si el mal no es grave, esto es suficiente para curar al enfermo.

"

 It is also believed that " The Evil Eye " harms animals and plants.

We could not mention the huge number of indigenous communities and ethnic groups of Mexico that deal with this topic, almost all similarly.
